Why Rusev Will Fight Undertaker Again, Champion Backstage at SD

It’s been a confusing week for fans of WWE’s Rusev as it was originally announced that he would be facing The Undertaker in a Casket Match at the Greatest Royal Rumble show next week. That match was later changed with Chris Jericho facing The Undertaker in a Casket Match instead. After the change to the match was made, Rusev began posting some cryptic messages online and he also removed all references to him working for WWE on social media, leading some fans to worry that he could be leaving WWE. However, the Casket Match was recently changed with Rusev taking on The Undertaker once again. Why was Rusev temporarily out of the match before being suddenly slotted back in?
According to a new report from Brad Shepard of Bodyslam.net, Rusev’s recent comments to TMZ about The Undertaker may have offended some backstage officials in WWE. Former WWE wrestler and wife of The Undertaker, Michelle McCool, tweeted out his disapproval of Rusev’s comments, but it is unclear if that is the reason why Rusev was temporarily pulled from the match. A backstage official in WWE reportedly took issue with Rusev referring to The Undertaker as being “old,” something that the company typically tries not to point out with “The Phenom.”  The report then goes on to mention that The Undertaker was not bothered by Rusev’s comments, leading to WWE reinserting Rusev into the Casket Match for April 27th.
Last night’s Superstar Shakeup edition of Monday Night Raw started off with Jinder Mahal arriving to the show after being traded from Smackdown. Mahal proceeded to lose the United States Championship to Jeff Hardy just moments after appearing on Raw. Just one day later, it loos like the US title may not be featured on the Raw brand for long as PWInsider just reported that Jeff Hardy is backstage for tonight’s Smackdown show in Providence, Rhode Island. With members of the Raw brand set to move to Smackdown tonight as part of the Superstar Shakeup this week, it is incredibly likely that the new US Champion could start working on Tuesday nights going forward.
