The Miz Speculates On Reason Fans Cheered Him At WWE RAW 25 Special
As noted, WWE added a new episode of their documentary series WWE 24 focusing on the RAW 25 special from January. In the new special, The Miz opened up about the crowd reaction he received that night and described what it’s like to win a WWE Championship.
During the RAW 25 special, The Miz defeated Roman Reigns to capture the WWE Intercontinental Championship. “The Most Must-See Superstar In WWE History” tried to describe what that feeling was like.
“I remember pinning him 1-2-3,” The Miz recalled. “And just everything becomes warm, and you get this sensation that you kind of feel your eyes water, and you’re saying, ‘oh my God, don’t cry, don’t cry.’ To hold the Intercontinental title for the eighth time, there’s no feeling like that.”
When defeating Reigns to capture the I-C title, The Miz was surprised to find that he was received positively by the WWE Universe in attendance. After years of growing accustomed to being booed by them, he explained his reaction to the cheers he received that night.
“Normally when I win a title, it’s a ‘boo,’ said The Miz. “This time was kind of a cheer. I don’t know. Maybe for the first time I got respect. Maybe. I got to have my celebration at the Manhattan Center. The fans actually reacted to me as if I was a good guy and it was awesome.”
The Miz then spoke about that positive reaction becoming magnified when he went to the Manhattan Center for that end of things during the live RAW 25 special.
“I thought maybe I had the respect at Barclays [Center], but at Manhattan Center, these are the hardcore fans,” said Miz. “For those hardcore fans to chant ‘thank you, Miz’, I’ve won the respect of the WWE Universe. I got more texts today than when I won the WWE Championship.”
